As a result of rapid developments in electronics and computer technologies, the performance of modern aircraft continues to improve. The electrical and electronic components of an aircraft are vital to flight operations. Maintenance personnel working in Aviation Electrical and Electronics must therefore be well educated, responsible, and highly qualified. The Department of Aviation Electrical and Electronics at Nişantaşı University School of Civil Aviation aims to equip its graduates with the knowledge and skills required to fulfil these responsibilities at the prescribed standards when they enter the profession. In addition to offering education in numerous branches of aviation for many years, our University contributes to students’ personal development through instructors who possess a strong understanding of aviation culture and extensive industry experience. As Aviation Electrical and Electronics requires professionals to perform in accordance with universal standards, English, the language of aviation, occupies an important place throughout the educational system. With this approach, the School of Civil Aviation aims to meet this requirement through an intensive English programme in the Department of Aviation Electrical and Electronics, as in al its departments. Consequently, the Department educates prospective aircraft technicians who can meet the expectations of national and international aviation authorities through a combination of technological and English-language education.
The Department of Aviation Electrical and Electronics provides an eight-semester programme, with two semesters in each academic year. An intensive English programme is also offered to enhance students’ technical competence. Courses include AC–DC Circuits, Theory of Flight, Non-Destructive Testing Methods, Electronic Circuits and Communication, Aircraft Instruments, and related subjects. Graduates may work in the technical departments of Turkish Airlines Inc., Turkish Air Force Air Supply and Maintenance Centres, private airline companies, aircraft maintenance centres, and other organizations operating in the aviation sector.
Graduates may also apply to master’s and doctoral programmes in the field of aviation.
Students wishing to register for the Department must complete the procedures and pass the examinations specified by ÖSYM within the framework of the University’s academic and legal regulations. Students who have begun their studies in an equivalent programme in Türkiye or abroad may apply for transfer. Applications are reviewed before the beginning of the semester and evaluated individualy, taking into account each applicant’s circumstances and the degree programme for which they have applied. International students participating in exchange programmes approved by the University and governed by formal agreements may take courses offered by the Department.
There is no special end-of-programme examination or final examination period that must be completed at the end of the academic year or following completion of the programme in order to earn the degree. However, each semester includes midterm examinations and a final examination period, generaly lasting two weeks immediately after the end of the semester. In addition, students are required to prepare a Graduation Thesis based on a project and deliver an oral presentation of the thesis in the seventh or eighth semester.
