About the Department

Our Department of Pilot Training was authorized by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) as an Approved Training Organization on March 30, 2021 (Authorization Certificate No: TR.ATO.060). An Approved Training Organization refers to a training institution approved by the DGCA and authorized to provide the theoretical knowledge and flight training required to obtain a pilot licence.

Our students who are admitted to the Department of Pilot Training, the pilots of our future, are informed about the programme by our expert academic staff and administrators from the moment they enrol at our University and are closely monitored throughout their education. Such monitoring is particularly important in the pilot training programme, which includes both theoretical and practical flight training, and al principles that must be followed in accordance with national and international regulations have been approved by the DGCA.

The language of instruction in our department is English, and students are offered English Preparatory Education during their first year. However, students who successfully pass the preparatory class exemption examination administered after their enrolment at the University are exempted from the English preparatory class and may begin their departmental courses directly.

Our Bachelor’s Degree Programme in Pilot Training consists of eight semesters:

Ø During the first two semesters, students take fundamental courses in aviation and engineering.

Ø In the third semester, the theoretical courses required for the Private Pilot Licence (PPL) are offered. At the end of this semester, students take the examination administered by the DGCA. Students who successfully pass the examination proceed to the fourth semester, during which they may begin their PPL flight training.

Ø The fourth semester, during which PPL flight training is conducted, takes place at our contracted Flight School. At this stage, students complete the minimum 45 hours of flight training specified by the DGCA and become eligible to obtain the PPL. Students who subsequently pass the proficiency flight conducted by the DGCA are entitled to receive the Private Pilot Licence (PPL).

Ø Students who obtain the PPL continue taking theoretical courses at our University during the fifth and sixth semesters in preparation for the Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL). According to the DGCA requirements, the minimum 272-hour training process required for the ATPL is distributed evenly across the fifth and sixth semesters. At the end of the sixth semester, students take the ATPL examinations administered by the DGCA. Those who successfully pass proceed to the seventh and eighth semesters to begin their ATPL flight training.

Ø During the seventh and eighth semesters, students complete the flights required for the ATPL at our contracted Flight School. During these semesters, students are also offered elective courses designed to enhance their professional knowledge and awareness and provide them with an advantage after graduation. Students who complete their flight training and successfully pass the examination administered by the DGCA graduate from our University having obtained the ATPL.

In summary, students who successfully complete the four-year education programme obtain:

(1) Private Pilot Licence (PPL),

(2) Night Rating (NR),

(3) Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL),

(4) Instrument Rating (IR),

(5) Multi-Engine Rating (ME),

(6) Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL). The licence referred to here is a “Frozen ATPL,” meaning that its privileges are temporarily restricted. It is converted into a full ATPL after the licence holder meets the specified criteria while working for an airline.

Admission Requirements

To enrol in the Department of Pilot Training at our University, students are required to obtain a Class 1 Medical Certificate from an Aviation Medical Centre authorized by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation and renew it upon the expiry of its validity period.

Matters concerning the department are governed by the PILOT LICENSING REGULATION (SHY-1).

Graduation

To graduate from the Department of Pilot Training at our University, students must meet the following requirements:

Ø Successfully complete al theoretical and practical courses included in the undergraduate programme,

Ø Successfully pass the PPL and ATPL examinations administered by the DGCA,

Ø Successfully complete al stages of flight training.
